Medication Management

Thank you for taking time to learn a little bit about me. I am a nurse practitioner with dual certifications in family practice as well as psychiatric mental health care. I received my doctorate degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, and family nurse practitioner degree from the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota. I have experience in all areas of psychiatric care including inpatient/acute care, outpatient care, integrated care, inpatient psychiatric consultations, and telemedicine. I worked in forensics for six years, specializing in sexual assault cases, and provided expert testimony. I have additional training in perinatal mood disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, Level 1 and 2 clinical hypnotherapy, and Battlefield acupuncture. I am licensed in Nebraska and Minnesota. I see patients via HIPAA secure telemedicine.

I have always had a passion for women’s care. Early in my nursing career, I spent 5 years working in labor and delivery, postpartum/newborn care, and cross trained to neonatal intensive care (NICU- Level II). During my family nurse practitioner program, I completed an extended clinical rotation in reproductive endocrinology. I have personal experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF), and consider it a great honor to help women move through their infertility journeys. I enjoy learning and being up to date with current research. It has been exciting to see recent research efforts being directed toward perimenopause- better late than never!

Because of my background in family practice, I review any/all health factors that may be contributing to mental health symptoms (current physical exams are helpful)

  • I do not prescribe or recommend marijuana or any cannabinoid products for the treatment of mental health disorders (this is research supported)

  • I do not prescribe narcotics

  • I do not recommend the use of long term benzodiazepines, and in most situations tapering schedules will be discussed/implemented (this is research supported)

  • I do not fill any controlled substances early
